Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has established a new football club in his native Uruguay.

The 38-year-old striker established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe during his three and a half years at Liverpool.

He scored 82 times in 133 appearances for the Reds before moving to Barcelona.



After enjoying success in Barca, he moved to Atletico Madrid before transferring to Inter Miami in 2024, after spells in Nacional and Gremio.

The striker has now taken his love for football outside the courts by establishing a professional football club.

Suarez announced on Tuesday that he has founded a professional soccer team in his native Uruguay.

He is bringing his former Barcelona and current Inter Miami teammate Lionel Messi along on the project.

In a video posted on his social media accounts, Suarez, who is the all-time scoring leader of Uruguay’s national team, explained that the team formerly known as Deportivo LS will now be called LSM and will start playing professional soccer in the Uruguay’s fourth division.

LSM is in reference to Suarez and Messi’s personal brands.

“Deportivo LS is a family dream that began in 2018.

We have grown a lot with more than 3,000 members,” Suárez said.

“I want to offer Uruguayan soccer, the place I love and where I grew up as a child, opportunities and tools for teenagers and children to grow.”

The 38-year-old Suárez, who retired from international soccer last September, played with Messi at Barcelona for six seasons, and they’ve been teammates the past two years with Inter Miami.
